Custom Volkswagen Crib

This is a Volkswagen inspired crib belongs to our Second Giveaway Winner! It’s come along way since I made the first rough draft. I had to do a lot of research on crib safety to make sure everything would meet the standards required to keep our friend’s baby safe.

I used the CNC to cut out the design accents. It took some work and time on the CNC design program to get the accent wood pieces to work the way I wanted them too. In the end I think they turned out great!

Then I moved on to painting which our friend picked out to match her nursery colors. I didn’t notice in the shop lights, but once the crib was brought inside I could see that the orange paint hadn’t gone on uniformly. So I had to bring everything back out for a couple more coats.

First coat pictured above. I followed it with a couple more coats (then went back with more coats) and a sealing clear coat.

The crib turned out even better than I had originally expected. I was able to execute my vision! We were even able to add some touch lights to the front which really helped add to the feel of the crib.
